Vibration depends on your device and browser

Some desktop browsers and iPhones do not expose vibration controls to web pages. Sound and light simulation will still work.

01

How to Use the Morse Code Simulator

This Morse code simulator lets you turn text into a timed Morse signal and send it with sound, flashing light, vibration, or a combination of all three.

1

Enter a message

Type text or choose a preset such as SOS, HELLO, or CQ.

2

Choose a signal mode

Select sound, light, vibration, or Combined mode.

3

Adjust timing

Change WPM, Farnsworth spacing, pitch, and volume.

4

Start the signal

Watch the live dot-and-dash display while the simulator sends the message.

02

What Does a Morse Code Simulator Do?

A simulator reproduces the timing of Morse code instead of only displaying written dots and dashes. It is useful when you want to hear, see, or feel how a message would be transmitted.

♪

Sound

Plays short and long audio tones for dots and dashes.

☼

Light

Uses short and long flashes to represent the Morse signal.

≈

Vibration

Uses device vibration where browser and hardware support it.

◎

Combined

Sends sound, light, and vibration together from the same timing sequence.

Current browser-based Morse tools commonly pair audio with light, vibration, speed controls, pitch, and Farnsworth spacing, which makes these signal modes useful beyond a plain text converter. citeturn780393search2turn780393search3turn780393search6turn780393search8

AUDIO SIGNALS

How Morse Code Sound Works

In sound mode, a dot is a short tone and a dash is a longer tone. The simulator also inserts silence between the elements, letters, and words.

You can change pitch and volume without changing the actual dot-and-dash pattern.

VISUAL SIGNALS

How Morse Code Light Works

Light mode replaces audio tones with short and long flashes. The same timing rules still apply, so a dash lasts three times as long as a dot.

Fullscreen mode makes the flashing signal easier to see from farther away.

03

How Morse Code Vibration Works

Vibration mode uses short and long vibration pulses to represent dots and dashes. This can be useful for tactile practice or for demonstrating Morse without sound.

Device support varies.

Web vibration is not available in every browser or device. If vibration does not start, use sound or light mode instead.

04

Morse Code Timing in the Simulator

International Morse Code uses relative timing units. The actual milliseconds change with WPM, but the relationship between each signal stays consistent.

ITU-R Recommendation M.1677-1 defines a dash as three dot units, an intra-character gap as one dot, a letter gap as three dots, and a word gap as seven dots. ITU currently lists M.1677-1 as In force (Main). citeturn780393search0turn780393search36

05

What Do WPM and Farnsworth Mean?

WPM controls the speed of the Morse characters. Farnsworth spacing lets you keep those characters at the chosen speed while adding more time between letters and words.

WPM

Character speed

Changes the length of dots, dashes, and spacing inside each character.

FARNSWORTH

Extra spacing

Adds more time between complete characters and words without stretching the character itself.

Current Morse tools regularly expose character speed and Farnsworth as separate controls because they serve different purposes. citeturn780393search2turn780393search3turn780393search7turn780393search8

06

How to Use the Manual Morse Keyer

The manual keyer lets you create your own dots and dashes by pressing and holding the key. A short press is detected as a dot, while a longer press becomes a dash.

1

Press and hold

Start the tone by pressing the key button.

2

Release the key

The simulator compares the press length with the current timing.

3

Add gaps

Use Letter Gap or Word Gap to separate your manual groups.

4

Check your pattern

Read the detected dots and dashes and correct them if needed.

07

Useful Messages to Try in the Simulator

Short familiar messages make it easier to compare sound, light, and vibration timing.

SOS... --- ...

A simple three-dot, three-dash, three-dot practice pattern.

HELLO.... . .-.. .-.. ---

A longer word with several different character rhythms.

CQ CQ-.-. --.- / -.-. --.-

A useful repeated pattern for radio-style Morse practice.

I LOVE YOU.. / .-.. --- ...- . / -.-- --- ..-

A phrase with several letters and word gaps.

You can also practice the dedicated SOS in Morse Code page if you want a focused SOS signal tool.

08

Morse Code Simulator vs Translator and Trainer

These tools use the same Morse alphabet but serve different tasks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Morse code simulator?

A Morse code simulator converts a message into timed Morse signals and reproduces them with sound, light, vibration, or manual keying.

Can I simulate Morse code with sound?

Yes. Sound mode plays short tones for dots and longer tones for dashes.

Can I flash Morse code with a light?

Yes. Light mode uses timed flashes for dots and dashes, and the simulator includes a fullscreen light option.

Can Morse code be sent with vibration?

Yes, when the device and browser support web vibration. Short and long vibration pulses can represent dots and dashes.

What is the timing difference between a dot and a dash?

A dash lasts three times as long as a dot under International Morse Code timing.

How long is the gap between Morse code letters?

The standard gap between two letters is three dot units.

How long is the gap between Morse code words?

The standard word gap is seven dot units.

What does Farnsworth spacing do?

Farnsworth spacing increases the gaps between complete characters and words while keeping each character at the selected character speed.

What is the manual Morse keyer?

It is a press-and-hold control that lets you create Morse manually. Short presses become dots and longer presses become dashes.

Why does vibration not work on my device?

Some browsers and devices do not support web vibration. Use sound or light mode when vibration is unavailable.
